Hey, For those of you who were not aware and are getting this news last minute... The Spring Pump event in Bloomington, IL is next weekend, the 18th and the 19th. One of the best events that we hit throughout the year will be even better this year. Mike Casady of Component Concepts will be visiting. If that doesn't ring a bell, he's the guy who make the Phantom paintball marker. He's a really classy guy and I look forward to the opportunity to shake hands with him and tell him that he makes an awesome marker. Oh, ya, I've already done that before. Well, it'll be nice to actually meet him face to face.
The event is 2 days long. You can do one or two it's up to you. The first day is just a ton of open play and the second is the limited paint, random draw tourney. Your team is picked out of a hat at random. If I could get away for two days that would be so much fun.
I don't have the website, but if you simply do a search on google or some other engine, it shouldn't be too hard to find. Try SPE 09 or Spring Pump Event , etc.
Hope to see you there.

Hello all!!!!
Well, it's been some time since I've sent out any news in regard to paintball because we've basically been deprived of any and all local decent indoor fields. Some of you may have hit the RISK game at Sherwood with Team WOW, but this weekend was my first one out on the grass and it was simply AWESOME!!! For those of you who may not keep up on current events in paintball or didn't manage to check the Gunfighter website, this last weekend was the Spring Pump Event. (This used to be called Tattoo's Birthday for those of you who've been with us since the early 2000s.) Anyway, all I can say is simply this.........YOU MISSED OUT!!!
Now I know that I say that with almost every event we have, but this one was just great. I have an extra reason why it was so spectacular, but other than that it was still phenomenal. Let me explain.....
First off, the event itself is pump and pump only. So that changes everything. The game is played and won by skill, strategy and marksmanship. Not who shot the most paint.
Secondly, everyone plays it like gentlemen (or a lady for that matter) and we hardly need any refs because we are a civilized group of individual. There are no cheaters, period. There are tons of guys that I know from multiple states that show up, so it's a real treat to see them in person.
Third, the games were going non-stop. You just find a group of guys that are taking the field, everybody splits pretty easily and you just play. Win or lose, you just go out, play and have fun. Pure enjoyment!
Fourth, I got to play with Dan's beautifully anodized Illusion and got tons of compliments on it. Now Dan laughed because he's had that marker for years and has gotten no remarks on it's beauty. I walked around and I was receiving high praise when I was using it. It's not anything I did, but it most likely was the company that we kept at the event..... They have an appreciation for the finer things in paintball.
On a side note... I managed to forget all 3 of my Phantoms at home in a backpack. My wife called us when we were halfway down there and told me. Awwww MAAAAAAAN!!!! Luckily Dan had a spare Phantom. To our dismay, it leaked like crazy when we gassed it up. So, then we moved on to the Illusion. That took a lot of getting used to. It has a horizontal feed that points forward instead of back like my SC Phantoms do. So, I was having a little trouble getting used to the feel of it. After awhile I got used to it..... slightly.
Fifth, For those of you who own Phantoms, the King and Master of all Phantomhood was there for the event and flew in from Oregon. Mike Casady, the man behind CCI, the makers of the Phantom paintball marker. Needless to say, I was giddy as a school girl at the chance to finally meet him. Dan and I have talked to him numerous times on the phone, but unless we fly out to Oregon, there's no hope of ever shaking his hand and thanking him for his quality paintball products. He brought some markers with him to raffle off and also brought a small piece of history..... The Revolution, which would have been Mike's entry into electro pneumatic paintball. I got to hold the real deal prototype that he made in 1996 I believe. Sweet!!!! But wait, there’s more.
Sixth, there was a raffle and my number was the first to be called. Now that’s icing on the cake, baby!!! Not only did I get to meet and hang out with Mike Casady, I also brought home a brand new Phantom that Mike donated to the raffle. YOWZA!!!! So, now I’ll have a photo coming soon from Spaceman that has me, Mike and my new Phantom marker in it. Waaaah--- whoooo!
Seventh, we went out to Famous Dave’s afterward. Which was a small adventure in and of itself. Gumby did a head count of people going to Dave’s after the game and counted 40 two different times. He then called them and told them to expect 45 or so. Well, when we finally got there our total count ended up being 92. Some people apparently didn’t raise their hands. It took some time to get seated.
This was a great, great event. I love it.
